Ended up watching a movie instead of doing much coding tonight.
Don't want to get obsessed by this at the moment.
Wired up a clear button and starting to rework the random square code.
Plan is to make it so that the squares are drawn on a grid pattern, based on the size of the picture box.
Once that's done, I'll look into making them different colours.
For now, gotta get some rest.
